About Cree

Cree Mann - WatercolorsPainting to me has always been a source of wonder and excitement, tempered with frustration. I had always enjoyed drawing and began painting after my children were grown. After a career in fashion retailing it seemed natural to choose a creative form of expression which required a sense of color and design. Painting in acrylic, oil and pastel gave way, finally, to watercolor, which has remained my favorite. Lately, however, intrigued by their vibrancy, I have added colored ink to my watercolors and have been pleased with the result.

The subjects I like best are landscape and flowers---I love to paint en plein air and Santa Barbara provides the best weather and locations to immerse myself in beauty. I continue to take classes and workshops and find a wonderful stimulation in painting with others.

In addition to memberships in Santa Barbara Art Association, SCAPE (Southern California Artists Painting for the Environment), I am an active member of Brushmarks Critique Group. My work can be found in collections around the world, and my greeting cards of local scenes continue to be very popular.

I feel very grateful to live in Santa Barbara and hope to continue to share my joy in its beauty through watercolor for many years to come.
